So here I am watching the movie, Valentine’s Day from last year or 2010 or somewhere in there. I think it was this year that I heard or read a report that the week of Valentine’s Day has more break ups than any week of the year. It smacks a lot of what courtship has [...]
Every year I have to do so many continuing education credits for ethics for my profession. I think it is a good thing as I believe we become what we are surrounded by thought wise. Whats more is that people who are more ethically minded tend to do better in their business endevors. It makes [...]
I have been thinking a lot about ethics lately and how people who are more ethical tend to also be more successful in whatever they do per the continuing education I have been doing. I remember reading once that ministers, pastors etc have a 13 percent divorce rate and I thought I could imagine the [...]
Today I was listening to PBS radio while driving between patient’s houses for my job and an interesting book called, Who’s in Charge, about mechanisms in our brain. The focus of the conversation when I tuned in was on how mental illness plays out in court in the US. The author stated several times that [...]
The recent news of J Crew’s boss becoming a lesbian and the collateral damage it has caused to her husband reminded me of someone who was close to me and did the same thing. As with people who were sexually assaulted, victims of this often have PTSD, never marry again and have increased levels of [...]
Lately I have been troubled by my shortcomings to the point of wasting a lot of energy on thinking and not doing my regular workout routine or moving forward towards my goals. Any time I fear judgement or wonder how I will deal with it the most comforting thing that ever occurs to me is [...]
A few years ago on a routine visit with my doctor I was addressing the issue that obviously stands out as one of main concerns in life, relationships. For some reason when I was addressing my ability to perform my checklists and keep my life moving the direction I want it to go he brought [...]
I was talking to my girlfriend today about my situation and how I have felt about the direction of my life since I have been in Dallas and it reminds me of sitting in the smoking section of a smoky restaurant. When I was finishing my last semester of school I took advantage of my [...]
This weekend we were watching Cinderella Man and it occured to me how true it is that we often become insensitive to the value of small things. For example, when all you a can afford is a little milk and you occasionally run out of that milk it takes on a whole new meaning. The [...]
I have a feeling that of all the old style cultures with low divorce rates these people are among the healthiest and happiest. They have seen from a different perspective a way of protecting the very delicate balancing act and have done so in a non abrasive way and I was embarrassed for Americans when on the news clip I saw, not the one embedded, the media were received politely although it was obvious to me that they stood out in their relatively obnoxious intrusion. To me that speaks volumes to what life can be like with the right care given to cultural attitudes and norms. This culture seems to understand the intricacies we choose to overlook.
